On May 31, 2024, the Madras Central Council (MCC) proudly inaugurated the Ozanam Tailoring Institute at the St. Francis de Sales Conference. This significant event marks a new chapter in MCC's efforts to empower the underprivileged through skill development.
The inauguration was presided over by Bro. Alfons ten Velde, Treasurer General of the Council General International, SSVP, and received blessings from Rev. Fr. Clement Balasamy, Spiritual Advisor of the Tiruvallur Area Council and Vicar Forane of Tiruvallur. The occasion was further honored by the presence of Bro. A. Lawrence, President of Madras Central Council, alongside the board members of MCC, Bro. S. John Britto Stephen, President of Tiruvallur Area Council, Bro. P. Kingsly, President of St. Francis de Sales Conference, Tiruvallur, and other members of the Tiruvallur conference.
As part of the inauguration, MCC presented seven sewing machines to the St. Francis de Sales Conference. These machines were generously sponsored by Sr. Lourdu Mary, who also graced the occasion with her presence.
The primary aim of the Ozanam Tailoring Institute is to equip poor individuals and widows with tailoring skills, enabling them to become self-sustained. Through this initiative, beneficiaries will have the opportunity to run their own businesses, thereby improving their livelihoods and fostering economic independence.
This project underscores MCC's commitment to social welfare and its continuous efforts to uplift the marginalized through practical and sustainable solutions.
